" Intangible Cultural Heritage and Youth "
What is Intangible Cultural Heritage?
The “Intangible Cultural Heritage” (ICH) means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, skills – as well as the instruments, objects, artefacts and associated cultural spaces that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognise as part of their cultural heritage. This Intangible Cultural Heritage, while being transmitted from generation to generation, is constantly recreated by communities and groups in response to their environment, their interaction with nature and their history, and provides them with a sense of identity and continuity, thus promoting respect for cultural diversity and human creativity.
ICH Manifestations - What Forms Does ICH Take
The subject of your photo(s) should cover one or more instances of the following domains.
ICH elements may often fall within one of the following five domains:
A- Oral traditions and expressions: songs, nursery rhymes, lullabies, storytelling, word games, work songs, etc.
B- Performing arts: music, calligraphy, dance, puppet shows, traditional theatre, etc.
C- Social practices, rituals and festive events: festivals, mourning ceremonies, gatherings, games, etc.
D- Knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe: traditional medicine, traditional architecture, traditional navigation systems, traditional methods of utilising clean energy, traditional management systems.
E- Traditional craftsmanship: traditional knowledge and skills of pottery-making, textile- making, woodwork, metalwork, jewellery-making, restoration, painting, etc.
However, these are not exclusive and ICH is also found in other domains such as, traditional games, food and culinary arts, ecological knowledge and animal husbandry.
Each entrant may submit a maximum of five images in each of the 6 sections.

File: Maximum 1400 pixels on the longest side, Maximum 1 MB, JPEG, RGB
As we will be printing a representative selection of the accepted images to a size of 50x70 cm or larger to exhibit, participants who have had their photos selected to be printed must, upon request, submit via the web site a High Definition file with at least 4000 pixels in the greatest dimension.

Subject of the Competition:
Next generations (especially the youth) are central to ICH in all its forms. When ICH is transmitted - that is, the art, knowledge, skills, meanings and values are transferred from one generation to the next (the youth) - it is young people who receive and absorb it. In this way, a sense of belonging is inculcated in young people, through which the future of ICH is made viable.
Everywhere in the world, the communities that are host to ICH, the groups of practitioners and knowledge bearers, have developed their own systems for transmitting their knowledge and skills. These have usually depended on oral methods and on direct practice under guidance and instruction.
The theme of the competition, 'Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Youth', intends especially to:
* show the presence and participation of young people in intangible cultural heritage, in all its forms
* illustrate how the transmission of ICH is carried out
* describe the diversity of the forms of ICH - such as artistic expression, handicraft and textile, the utilisation of nature's gifts, social institutions that organise communities and knowledge
* highlight the participation of girls and women.
The works should contain at least one of the following:
• Presence and participation of young people in intangible cultural heritage manifestations;
• Presence of the transfer of the cultural heritage element to the next generation;
• Presence of diversity in the implementation or performance or expression of an element of intangible cultural heritage among generations;
• Presence of the participation of girls and women.
ENTRY FEES
No need to pay entry fee! This salon is free.

Totally $2000 USD cash Prizes
1st award: Honorable Mention Certificates + $ 1000 USD
2nd award: Honorable Mention Certificates + $ 600 USD
3rd award: Honorable Mention Certificates + $ 400 USD
“4 Honorable Mention Certificates” will be awarded.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
ENTRIES
1.
Entry is open to all photographers, amateur and professional, worldwide.
2.
Previous Acceptances: Images accepted in a previous edition of this salon or which, in the opinion of the organizers, are too similar to those accepted in any previous edition of this salon, will not be judged.
3.
Copyright: All parts of the image have to be photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of all works submitted. Clip Art and Copyright Free material are not acceptable. The FIAP and Focus Photo Club assume no responsibility for misuse by anyone of the copyright of published images.
4.
Submission: Images and a completed entry form must be submitted on line using the exhibition website.
Entrants MUST use only the English alphabet when submitting an entry.5.
File size: All images are to be submitted in
JPEG It is recommended that images should use
RGB Colour Space. Smaller images are acceptable but will be projected smaller on the screen. Please check all image sizes before submission, images with sizes greater than specified
will be rejected. The projection background is black, Please
DO NOT fill empty space with/or add large borders. Any borders should be no greater than 2 pixels wide.
6.
File Naming: Files must be renamed to the photo title when submitting an entry. However, the titles should appear on the entry form as you wish them to appear in the catalogue.
7.
Image Titles: Each image must have a unique title.
Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s title, nor are camera capture filenames.
8.
Judging: Entries are limited to not more than 5 images.
You must upload all images in section A for all subjects.9.
Names: No information about the entrant, title of the image or country will be given to the judges.
10. Comments:
We ask you to attach to your submission, in free text (.doc, .pdf), a description as complete as possible of your photos:
1. Number of photo from our site
2. Title of photo
3. date and place of shooting
4. description and particularities of the subjects represented, etc.
This information will also be useful when writing the various parts of the catalogue, or if necessary to inform the members of the jury.
COMPLIANCE
The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization, or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to exhibition rules and conditions.
Take special note: In addition, like other cultures, our country has some subjects that are not acceptable. In the case of our country, our culture does not allow images of nudity or of women showing bare breasts, arms and legs. As such images of nudes and insufficiently dressed women will not be accepted. Nude photography and photographs of the naked body of women (including breasts, arms and legs) and also animal mating are excluded from this contest; therefore any entries, adjudged by the organizers to fall into these categories, will be disqualified.

Notification of results will be sent by email. Entrants should ensure that they provide an active email address and that spam filters are set to accept emails from
